大学のネットワーク

アメリカにおける大学のネットワーク化の濫觴は、California州Claremont Colleges である。
学部: - Claremont McKenna College　（ビジネス系）
　　　　- Harvey Mudd College　（エンジニア系）
- Pitzer College　（国際関連、社会学）
- Pomona College　（文学系）
- Scripps College　（女子大）
大学院：- Claremont Graduate University
- Keck Graduate Institute, a biomedical graduate school

これらの大学は相互にアクセス可能である。研究施設だけではなく、図書館、メディカルセンター、カウンセリングセンター、ブックストアー、スポーツ施設などを共有することで、設備の重複を回避しながら、効率的な教育投資の実をあげている。

　学生数は約5000名、それぞれが各Collegeに所属しながら、2000を超える講義科目を履修している。
　The Claremont Colleges is a consortium(cuc) of five undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions and a central organization that provides services shared by all students, faculty, and staff.

　CUC is a nationally recognized educational model for academic support, student support and institutional support services to meet the needs of 5,500 students and over 3,000 faculty and staff. Some of the 29 different services include: campus safety, a central library, health and counseling services, ethnic centers, an interfaith office of chaplains, central bookstore, food service, physical plant and facilities support, payroll and accounting, information technology, human resources, real estate, risk management and employee benefits.
